What is Wellness?

So much talk about wellness, health, nutrition, fitness and the likes.
Why does it matter so much? What's all the fuss about? What is wellness?


Let's start with what wellness actually is...
According to The World Health Organization, wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
"Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life." - UC Davis Student Health and Counseling Services
"Wellness is a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential." - The National Wellness Institute

Wellness is important y'all. Everything about us has to do with our well-being (wellness); therefore, in order for us to achieve our full potential, it is crucial to maintain an excellent level of wellness.

Unbeknownst to the general population, wellness is not just about fitness, nutrition, etc; those actually fall under one of the 8 types of inter-related wellness:

Emotional Wellness
Environmental Wellness
Financial Wellness
Intellectual Wellness
Occupational Wellness
Physical Wellness
Social Wellness
Spiritual Wellness

I'm not saying the other 7 aren't important, but hey, I'm more concerned about my physical wellness; be honest, that's why you're here ain't it? :D
